  9. The author, a former Army Special Forces Vietnam veteran, Los Angeles Police
  10. SWAT Team Officer, is an NRA police firearms, pistol, rifle and shotgun
  11. instructor for the United States Marksmanship Academy (Post Office Box 30126,
  12. Phoenix, Arizona 85046; 602-220-0750). He spent nine years as a Green Beret and
  13. saw extensive combat duty with the Special Forces Project Delta in Vietnam and
  14. counter-insurgency operations in Central America. Later with the LAPD he served
  15. as a patrol officer, undercover subversive intelligence operative and SWAT team
  16. officer. He has instructed military and police organizations in self defense,
  17. weapons and tactics in the U.S., Central America and Asia. The following essay
  18. summarizes his thoughts and beliefs on the current attempts in this country to
  19. disarm the American citizenry - The Editors.

  25.     "Do not kid yourselves about what is at stake"
  26.  
  27.      "It would be the greatest mistake, certainly, to think that concessions
  28. mean peace. Nothing of the kind. Concessions are nothing but a new form of
  29. war." - V.I. Lenin

  31.     The above quote by one of the most brutal architects of human misery
  32. applies to ANY concession of liberty. The present attack on our Second
  33. Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms is being waged in the form of concessions.
  34. Any retreat is part of a fatal process. In our suicidal search for a "kinder
  35. gentler nation" we are sacrificing our birthright of liberty. It is time that
  36. we recognize that we are at war. There can be NO COMPROMISE on the issue of
  37. weapons. The presence of weapons in the hands of the sovereign citizen is the
  38. ONLY hope of leaving some pathetic legacy of freedom to posterity. Any person,
  39. government official or agency that advocates the disarming of this nation is
  40. guilty of treason. The penalty for treason is death. Presently, the law of
  41. the government protects traitors and the enemies of freedom in this country
  42. while the principles of justice, human dignity and liberty languish in the
  43. darkness of apathy. How will we tell our children that freedom died because we
  44. did not have the courage to keep our weapons? Like jackals, the cowards, the
  45. weak and the timid in their quest for power, are harassing and isolating us.
  46. Each of us will someday face the choice ... fight or surrender. We cannot even
  47. run because America was the last refuge.

  49.     Do not kid yourselves about what is at stake. Your career, your
  50. property, your material wealth, your status among family and friends, your
  51. freedom from incarceration and even your life are at risk if you are unwilling
  52. to defend yourself from this crime perpetrated upon us by a malignant
  53. government. The principles of honor, mantic nonsense. Keep in mind that those
  54. principles created the greatest nation in the history of the world. We owe no
  55. apology for that success. We won the greatest economic, political and military
  56. conflicts in history and in so doing bought the lives and relative liberty of
  57. those who now attack us from within and without. Our right to own and carry
  58. weapons is at the heart of that success. Contrast, if you will, the subjugation
  59. of the Hungarians and the victory of the Afghans in the face of Soviet might.
  60. If you speak of rights, of the principles of the Constitution, of the legitimacy
  61. of national and cultural continuity and dominance, of the sovereignty of our
  62. physical borders ... you, like me, will be labeled a fanatic, an extremist, a
  63. radical and even a terrorist. Your phone will be tapped, and your name will be
  64. listed in the files of intelligence and enforcement agencies from the local
  65. police to other state and federal agencies. Most Americans naively believe
  66. because we cast ballots and participate in other illusory trappings of a free
  67. people we enjoy liberty. Get arrested and see what happens. You will have a
  68. record for life whether you are guilty or innocent. The instances of police
  69. brutality and unjustified shootings are increasing as the courts hold that the
  70. police have no obligation to protect the citizen. Judges exercise judicial
  71. tyranny by creating law rather than interpreting it as specified by the United
  72. States Constitution. Citizens in Arizona are being arrested for failure to
  73. surrender identification. "Show me your papers" cannot be too far away. The
  74. same officials, politicians, social activists, and lobotomized voters who have
  75. advocated and established the policies of open territorial borders, the
  76. abandonment of our allies, the waste of Asia, the socialist vomit being fed our
  77. children in the public schools, corrupt politicians, abusive police and
  78. government officials, distorted media reporting, the rape of our land, the
  79. poisoning of our water and air, the strangulation of free enterprise by
  80. megabusiness, the insanity of affirmative action and the arrest and prosecution
  81. of citizens for self-defense are the same rabble who will take your rights,
  82. confiscate your weapons and castrate your spirit. If you are happy with Monday
  83. Night Football, aerobics classes, an evening of wine and cheese at The Pointe,
  84. Club Med vacations, or any of the other trinkets afforded fat, complacent and
  85. willing whores then depart from us in peace at this time. Continue to lick the
  86. boots of your masters and perform the other duties of a prostitute. But know
  87. that you are an enemy of those who count freedom above comfort. We who love
  88. liberty more than security sear the chains of subjugation. Take our weapons and
  89. we will take your life. Take warning, the line has been drawn. If blood is to
  90. be shed, let it begin here. Should the flames of violence consume us, history
  91. will mark for future generations the courage and passing of free men. If the
  92. Almighty grants an undeserving people mercy once again before the light flickers
  93. into darkness, free men and women will take their weapons in hand, place the
  94. point of the sword against the throat of the enemy and no quarter shall be
  95. given.
